Reading Response: The Hunger Games

There are two types of people in this world, rich and poor. Being rich is so different from being poor and in this book is a mixture of both. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is mainly about kids fighting for their lives. This book shows that kids live in poverty and violence have to fight for their life from something they can't escape and in reality most people around the world go through the same thing and even though some don't suffer as much as other , this book can open their eyes and show that their is always a reason to have hope and to fight for what you believe in.

The main character, Katniss Everden, is a great example because Katniss and her family are poor and live in a small house and have suffered when her father died in an explosion. Ever since that day she felt anxious, furious and guilty because throughout the book  there were a lot of people that depended on her and that's a lot of pressure. In addition,  the author, Suzanne Collins used symbolism throughout the book and by using this, it showed that you may not have someone to support you but you can have or find something that will do that. In the book, Katniss has a Mockingjay pin and she always has it with her because when she went hunting with her dad, he would sing her a song and a Mockingjay bird would repeat it after. So whenever she has the pin it will remind her of her dad and it'll feel like she is being protected by her father and it'll give her encouragement while she is in the games. 

I hope that The Hunger Games will make a big impact on teens lives because there is still a lot to learn from Katniss and who knows, this book can help you through problems in the future.
