In the book," Glass" by Ellen Hopkins is about changes can not only hurt you but it can also hurt other people you love without even noticing. Kristina's was an average teenage girl that was until she met the monster. Things went downhill for her, after she gave birth to her first son at 17 everything seem to go fine until she goes back to monster.
In the book, Kristina never planned on smoking again but it just happened. During her journey with smoking, she had hurt a lot of her family, especially her mom. Her mother tried everything to help Kristina. She never wanted her daughter to be like this and she feels desperate and feels like she failed at being a good mother. But soon her mother has had enough of her actions and her behavior, so she kicks her out of their house and doesn't let Kristina take her baby son, Hunter. Her mother is hurt that it has come to a point like this but she is only doing it to help her daughter to sober up and be the girl she knew before the monster.
Kristina not only hurt her mother but she is also hurting her son, Hunter. He might be a baby but in the future it can really affect because he's going to feel abandoned and alone because of his mother's behavior. He might go on with his life and will always be thinking why wasn't my mother there when I needed her the most? Although he might have his grandparents with him, it will never be the same.
In the end, Kristina is only hurting herself then she is to others. Deep down her she knows she can quit smoking, it's just her body and brain telling her no. She wants to be a better mother and daughter but just can't do it because she knows she has let everyone down and knows that no will help her because they gave her to many chances and she ruined every single one of them. Her life has been a train wreak and at this point in her life she doesn't know what to do but she still has hope that one day, she'll have the power to do what's best for her and her family.
